MT2

flattrered

The premise is simple.  Through MT2 we support the future generation of arts makers and leaders.

Each year via audition, we invite a number of performers into the company to create high quality performance work. Whether for stage or street, work is developed in collaboration between Maelstrom Theatre and MT2 members. MT2 is for aspiring performers aged 17-20 living in the North West of England (or up to 25 for those with a disability).

The nitty gritty

Members of MT2 will meet for intensive periods (September/October, February, April & over the summer) to train, make and perform with company members of Maelstrom Theatre.

Generally starting at 10/11am and finishing at 4/5pm, members will take part in a rigorous technical class (usually contemporary dance) followed by a creative lab or structured improvisation session (specialist sessions may include: Suzuki, Viewpoints, Character Work, Physical Theatre or some other performance artform).

The afternoon will be dedicated to the development (devising, rehearsing &/or polishing) of performance work.

Entrance into the company is by audition and company members will pay £200 for the year.  This fee covers artist pay as well as fees for one platform event.  Where possible we try to make our work as accessible as possible.  If you are thinking about applying, but worried about the fees, please speak to one of the team as we can support applications to local bursaries.
